new watchtower, new songbook, new funeral arrangement *gasps*!!!
by make yourself inok so i went to a jehovah witness funeral last week and i noticed a lot of changes.
first of all it did not start with a prayer, and they had one brother come up in the beginning and talk about the diseased relatives family and their qualities then had another brother come up and do the scriptures and then the brother who came up at the start to close with a prayer and no song.
and also there was only one prayer the whole time and that was at the end.

When my father died last October, they had his coffin in the KH right at the front. I don’t know whose idea it was because it wasn’t something my dad would have wanted, and my sister and I weren’t happy with it either.

Yes, the same thing was (is?) done at the Australian Bethel too, for other countries that weren’t white. The pose, props and everything else was the same, just the ppl were changed to appeal to the people it was designed for.

What year Did you Stop Attending Meetings - How Long were you a JW ?
by flipper ini'm trying to compare some statistics and figures on this to share later in the thread to see if more long-time witnesses are exiting- or are newer witnesses exiting after a shorter period of time.
and - are more people exiting in the last 10 to 15 years than before.
so your answers would be helpful in looking into this .

I had to look up Angela Davis to see what she looked like!
I didn’t notice that about the Memorial pamphlet, but then I didn’t take notice of it period. Anyway, I tend not to look at things in black and white.

Miracles and the wonderful protection Jehovah gives to his people in todays world
by excito-are inthought i would tell you a story given by a member of the church i attend these days in scotland.
after a discussion about miracles in which i made my point that as being raised as someone who belived in god interacting with those in world with whom he truly loved, i had now come to an understanding that if god is the embodiment of omnipotence and goodness, then surely he would not play the role of a trickster who randomly throws miracles about like a trickster, causing chaos and a lack of understanding of the laws of nature due to this.
but it is the very fact of science and the laws of nature that show miracles to be uncommon, and that is is merely that man fails to understand that an certain event has yet to be explained through our knowledge of the world.

I find it disgusting that God would choose to help someone in the western world because of where there are born or who they are, and choose to ignore the millions of africans dying from famine and disease.
I agree totally.
